Job Purpose

The Vice President of Software Development will manage and direct the technology department, including front-end, back-end, development management, and quality assurance (QA). You will plan, organize, and drive the full product life cycle. In this role you will be responsible for timely and high-quality releases of products according to established product roadmaps. You will work closely with internal and external resources to insure successful customer deployment and market success. Success depends upon a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality.

 

Job Duties

• Oversee estimation and execution of project work plans. Direct revisions as appropriate to meet changing needs and
  requirements.
• Drive software development across multiple teams and phases to ensure that engineering solutions are aligned with
  business objectives.
• Minimize schedule and technical risk by foreseeing and addressing obstacles proactively and aggressively.
• Observes market/technology trends and develop ideas for innovative new products to continually expand the
  effectiveness, marketability, and revenue potential of our solution.
• Provide expertise and training to internal departments in support of the product.
• Interfaces with customers to further define product direction and to manage through product releases.
• Ensure that incoming enhancement requests and customer commitments are managed properly.
• Participate in the sales process as needed to help convey product vision and value proposition, and that sales support
  resources are prepared to convey this same message effectively.
• Responsible for overseeing the development, prioritization, and maintenance of accurate user stories to make effective
  use of development resources.
• Remains knowledgeable on changes in the information technology and healthcare fields.
• Take full accountability for the Software Development Life Cycle and the software development team
• Assess, recommend, then implement approved processes and methods for the software development team to operate
• Lead a team of both internal employees consultants/contractors
• Create and manage department budgets, as well as project budgets where applicable
• Interact with the individuals on a regular basis providing timely feedback and guidance that renders continuous
  improvement of the individual and the team as a whole, and conduct regular formal performance appraisals
• Ensure budget, including salary spend is maximized for productivity and output
• Some travel may be required

 

Qualifications:

• 12+ years software product and/or project management experience in developing healthcare software
• 15+ years in a complex technical environment, managing large systems development and implementation project
• 12+ years in a technical leadership role
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong communication skills including verbal and written
• Bachelor's degree in relative field such as computer science or information technology
